Have I really not written anything since March? Life has been so hectic for me lately, but I think it's starting to calm down. I never realized just how hard it was to have two kids. I'm not sure if the fact that they're so close in age makes it better or worse. I'm finally getting to a point where it's getting manageable.
Gavin is almost 3. Can you believe it??? He wants to be a big boy so badly. He's probably 99% pee pee potty trained, although he's 0% poopy potty trained. Now he's learning to pull his pants up and down on his own and potty by himself. Colin is crawling all over the house. And, last week, he learned to pull himself up to a standing position. He's getting to be such a big boy, but he's also going through a "clingy" phase. Sometimes they are so content playing together, but other times, either Gavin is playing way too rough or refuses to play with Colin at all. It is so adorable watching them play when they're actually enjoying each other.
We've gotten a lot done with the house. Thanks to my dad, who got us an amazing deal on a John Deere tractor, Andy can now mow the lawn in FAR less than a day. :) We've painted the playroom, living room, kitchen, and hallways. We haven't started decorating yet, but I plan to get started soon. We also just ordered a retractable awning for the back deck. That will allow us to really be able to enjoy the back yard in the NC heat. I just hope it's up by Colin's first birthday.
So, here are some updates on the boys...
Colin - He is now eating solid foods. We pretty much give him anything that we're eating, as long as we can cut it or mash it. He started clapping on 4/26/10 when my mom showed him how to do it. He started sitting himself up in April and crawling in early May...right after our visit to NJ. He stood himself up with the help of the TV stand for Daddy on 5/29/2010. The little bugger seems to do all his milestones for Daddy even though I'M the stay home parent. :) His hair is still very blond and he's getting curls around his neck. His eyes are still gray-blue and I'm thinking that they may stay that way. His eyes look just like Andy's Mom's eyes. And he's got 7 teeth.
Gavin - Gavin is such a little man, or at least he's trying to be. He gets taller by the second and his feet are huge! He must get that from his Pop-pop Dirkes. His favorite toy is his "Scout" that we programmed to say his favorite things. He sings the songs and carries him everywhere. He even sleeps with him. His favorite food is "cheese toast", which is any kind of sandwich with cheese on it. His favorite color is green and he loves trains, cars, and trucks (especially trash trucks and Mack trucks.) His favorite cartoons are Chuggington, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. His favorite movies are Cars and Toy Story. He says please, thank-you, no thank-you, and excuse me....such a polite boy! He's also started to ask "what" and "why" questions. So far, he accepts my answers, but who knows how long that will last.
